The National Association
Citizens On Patrol is a non-profit, public benefit corporation, based in
Corona, CA. Founded in 1999, the organization supports it's over 3,000
member Citizen Patrol groups and Law Enforcement Coordinators nationwide
in over 8 states and 60 agencies. Today there are an estimated 100,000
Citizen Patrol Volunteers who are trained and supervised by their local
Law Enforcement agency and patrol their communities in marked patrol
vehicles acting as additional "Eyes and Ears" for Police and
Sheriffs Departments.
In addition to providing support for existing Citizen Patrol groups and those wishing to start a program, our mission includes providing recognition to Citizens On Patrol and Law Enforcement Coordinators nationwide. Additionally, we strive to provide recognition to others who make a difference in people's lives. At our recent July 14, 2001 conference, we presented Mr. John Walsh of the popular TV show "America's Most Wanted" with the "Citizen Action Award" for his outstanding efforts in reducing crime across our nation. Other awards presented were the "Citizen Patrol Volunteer of the Year", "Law Enforcement Coordinator of the Year" and "Best in show Patrol Vehicle". Further it has been our policy to provide emotional support to our member groups who have lost a volunteer or Officer with a bouquet of flowers and card on behalf of all our members. During our July 14, 2001 conference, we helped to raise money for a national law enforcement officer's memorial. Our most recent project, the NACOP911FUND, is a natural extension of our ongoing efforts and one we feel must be done. To help kick off the project, the National Association Citizens On Patrol, will donate 10% of all future membership fees to the NACOP911FUND. |
